Living & Shopping
With the largest retail shopping precinct in the Northern Rivers, Lismore is a shoppers' paradise.
The centre of town, known by locals as "The Block", has everything from chic boutique fashion and designer homewares to organic produce and rare books.
There are quirky specialty stores, sidewalk cafés and arcades full of surprises.
Lismore's diversity is reflected in a dazzling array of shopping choices. The wide streets of the shopping precinct are lined with beautiful heritage buildings and the Wilsons River meandering through the central business district enhances the relaxed country atmosphere.
Lismore Shopping Square
If you're looking for air-conditioned comfort and one-stop shopping mall convenience, the newly refurbished Lismore Shopping Square is the shopping destination.
There are over 75 specialty stores, four major retailers (Coles, Woolworths, BIG W and Kmart) and a huge range of services.
Dining:
The Rainbow Region's cosmopolitan culture and passion for alternative living has generated an eclectic array of fabulous food and imaginative dining alternatives.
Lismore offers everything from award winning wood fired pizzas and fine French fare to innovative organic vegetarian and contemporary Asian and Australian cuisine; dining options are limited only by our imagination. Lismore's many and varied eateries are sure to have something to tempt your taste buds.
Leisure:
Lismore City Council's $15million Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre opened to the public on Saturday, April 4, 2009.
The centre offers residents and visitors of the Lismore region a new level of leisure and recreation activities as well as access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.
Designed by Sydney architect Stephen Johansson from Facility Design Group Architects, and built by Spantec, this unique facility offers something for everyone from swimming to saunas; fitness to futsal, and everything in between.
The Centre features:
- 800m2 of modern health and fitness space
- 2 full sized multipurpose indoor sports courts
- 600m2 of leisure water facilities
- Toddlers pool
- The centres signature water slide, Blue Thunder
- Coffee shop and alfresco dining areas
- Youth and multi-purpose rooms
- Meeting and conference facilities
In introducing the Centre, Mayor of Lismore Councillor Jenny Dowell has said it was the biggest single project ever undertaken by the Council. Cr Dowell believes the benefits and legacy it delivers confirms Council's civic commitment to our community to provide for a healthy lifestyle incorporating sports, fitness and fun.
